How Roman's Worshiped Their Gods
Romans worshiped their gods in many ways. They built large temples to each of their gods where they would pray. It was at these places where they would leave offerings and gifts to worship them. Like many things in their culture, the Romans copied the Greek temples, so the temples in ancient Rome looked very similar to the ones in Greece.
In addition, many Romans had small holy places in their homes because they believed there were holy spirits that lived there. They would pray at these places so that the spirits wouldn't get angry. They would leave items like wine, cakes, and spices at these holy places as offerings to their gods and goddesses. They believed that each home in Rome had its own personal household god. The main spirit that everyone prayed to, including the slaves, was Genius because he was one of the more important spirits of the house.
